How to see how much data is in Segment

  1. Sign in to the Segment workspace
  2. Go to Settings → Usage and Billing → Usage
  3. Note MTUs and API calls for the current period
  4. Use the billing-period dropdown to see past periods by source

Record MTUs and API calls; Segment mostly passes data through, so the stored copy lives in your destinations.

How to get a copy of your Segment data

  1. Sign in as a workspace owner
  2. Open Connections and add a data warehouse or Data Lakes destination
  3. Connect your sources to it
  4. Let the sync run
  5. Query or copy the data from your warehouse

Workspace owners get event data out by connecting a data warehouse or Data Lakes destination, or by using Replay. Source schemas can be downloaded as CSV.

Export options depend on your plan, and there's no one-click download of all raw events.

Segment’s official export instructions

These instructions are written by DataFrenzy from each vendor’s public help pages. Menu names can vary by plan and change over time; the official link on each guide is the final word. Screenshots come from each vendor’s own help pages and videos or, where noted, from third-party tutorials credited under the image; dashed outlines are illustrations, not screenshots. Looking up a size or preparing an export never sends anything to DataFrenzy.
