How to see how much data is in Samsara

  1. Sign in to the Samsara dashboard as an admin
  2. Count your vehicles, trailers and drivers
  3. Go to Settings (gear icon) → Data Retention
  4. Note how long camera, HOS, DVIR and safety data is kept

Record the number of vehicles, drivers and the retention period per data type; there is no storage meter, and data older than the retention period is already deleted.

How to get a copy of your Samsara data

  1. Sign in to the Samsara dashboard
  2. Open the report you need under Reports
  3. Set the date range and filters
  4. Click the ••• menu → Export or Download CSV
  5. Save the file

Open a report, set the date range and filters, then use the ••• menu → Export or Download CSV. Bulk data is available through the Samsara API.

Each report exports separately and some Safety or Compliance reports only offer Print. Downloads cover only the date range you picked.

Samsara’s official export instructions

These instructions are written by DataFrenzy from each vendor’s public help pages. Menu names can vary by plan and change over time; the official link on each guide is the final word. Screenshots come from each vendor’s own help pages and videos or, where noted, from third-party tutorials credited under the image; dashed outlines are illustrations, not screenshots. Looking up a size or preparing an export never sends anything to DataFrenzy.
