How to see how much data is in Mailchimp

  1. Sign in to Mailchimp
  2. Click Audience to open the audience dashboard
  3. Read the total contacts in Audience Overview (subscribed, non-subscribed, unsubscribed)
  4. If you have several audiences, switch with Current audience → View audiences and repeat

Record total contacts per audience plus the number of sent campaigns; a person in two audiences counts twice.

How to get a copy of your Mailchimp data

  1. Sign in as an Owner or Admin
  2. Go to Audience
  3. Click Export audience and confirm the CSV export
  4. Wait for the email, then click View exports
  5. Click Download CSV

Owners and Admins can go to Audience → Export audience, then download the CSV from View exports. For a full account backup, go to Account → Settings → Manage my data.

Exports stay available for only 30 days, may arrive as a ZIP split by subscriber status, and leave out open and click data.

Mailchimp’s official export instructions

These instructions are written by DataFrenzy from each vendor’s public help pages. Menu names can vary by plan and change over time; the official link on each guide is the final word. Screenshots come from each vendor’s own help pages and videos or, where noted, from third-party tutorials credited under the image; dashed outlines are illustrations, not screenshots. Looking up a size or preparing an export never sends anything to DataFrenzy.
