How to see how much data is in Jira

  1. Sign in to Atlassian Administration (admin.atlassian.com) as a site admin and select your organization
  2. Select the site's name and URL (or, with centralized user management, select Apps and then the site)
  3. Under Site settings, select Storage
  4. Note the storage used for Jira

Record Jira's storage used; this is mainly attachments, so for issue data size create a backup in Jira Settings → System → Backup manager with attachments included and use its file size.

  2. Under IMPORT AND EXPORT, open Backup manager
  3. Under Backup for cloud, tick the option to include attachments if needed
  4. Click Create backup for cloud and wait for it to finish

Administrators can create a site backup (Settings → System → Backup manager) or export issues as CSV.

Attachments are only included when the backup option for attachments is selected.

Jira’s official export instructions

These instructions are written by DataFrenzy from each vendor’s public help pages. Menu names can vary by plan and change over time; the official link on each guide is the final word. Screenshots come from each vendor’s own help pages and videos or, where noted, from third-party tutorials credited under the image; dashed outlines are illustrations, not screenshots. Looking up a size or preparing an export never sends anything to DataFrenzy.
