How to see how much data is in Fishbowl
- On the Fishbowl server, open Fishbowl Server Administration
- Right-click your database and choose Backup Database
- Open the Fishbowl\data\backups folder and check the size of the newest backup file
- Also note how many years of orders the database holds
Record the backup file size; this is effectively the database size, and it includes custom reports.
How to get a copy of your Fishbowl data
- Open the Fishbowl desktop client as an admin
- Click File → Export
- Pick the data type to export
- Choose CSV or Excel (XLSX keeps leading zeros)
- Save the file
In Fishbowl's desktop client, choose File → Export and pick the data type to save a CSV or Excel file. The Data module can export custom queries to CSV or XLS.
Opening a CSV in Excel can strip leading zeros from part numbers, so export as XLSX when that matters.
These instructions are written by DataFrenzy from each vendor’s public help pages. Menu names can vary by plan and change over time; the official link on each guide is the final word. Screenshots come from each vendor’s own help pages and videos or, where noted, from third-party tutorials credited under the image; dashed outlines are illustrations, not screenshots. Looking up a size or preparing an export never sends anything to DataFrenzy.
