Data guides
Datadog: see how much data you have, then export it.
Pick a system to see two things: how to check how much data is in it, and how to export a copy. No form, no sign-in.

How to see how much data is in Datadog
- Sign in to Datadog as an admin
- Hover over your username at the bottom left and choose Plan & Usage → Usage
- Open the Log Management tab to see indexed log counts by index and retention
- Note ingested log bytes and indexed log events for recent months
Record monthly ingested log volume and indexed events plus your retention period; Datadog only keeps logs for the retention you pay for, so older data is already gone.

How to get a copy of your Datadog data
- Sign in to Datadog
- Open Log Explorer and run your query
- Set the time range
- Click Download as CSV
- For older or larger data, use your Log Archives
Users can run a query in Log Explorer and click Download as CSV (up to 100,000 logs). Long-term copies come from Log Archives sent to your own cloud storage.
Datadog only keeps logs for your retention period, and CSV downloads change some values for spreadsheet safety.
These instructions are written by DataFrenzy from each vendor’s public help pages. Menu names can vary by plan and change over time; the official link on each guide is the final word. Screenshots come from each vendor’s own help pages and videos or, where noted, from third-party tutorials credited under the image; dashed outlines are illustrations, not screenshots. Looking up a size or preparing an export never sends anything to DataFrenzy.
