How to see how much data is in Bitbucket

  1. Sign in to Bitbucket Cloud and open your workspace
  2. Go to the workspace's Repositories page
  3. Read the Size column for each repository
  4. For one repository, open it → Settings → Repository details and note the Size line

Add up the repository sizes and the number of repositories; Git LFS files are tracked separately from repository size.

How to get a copy of your Bitbucket data

  1. Sign in with access to the workspace
  2. For each repository, run git clone --mirror for full history
  3. If you use Git LFS, also run git lfs fetch --all
  4. Or open Repository → Downloads and download the zip
  5. Keep the copies in company storage

Workspace members can clone each repository with Git for full history, or download a zip from Repository → Downloads.

Zip downloads leave out Git LFS files and history. Atlassian scheduled the issue tracker for removal on August 20, 2026, so check whether issue data still exists.

Bitbucket’s official export instructions

These instructions are written by DataFrenzy from each vendor’s public help pages. Menu names can vary by plan and change over time; the official link on each guide is the final word. Screenshots come from each vendor’s own help pages and videos or, where noted, from third-party tutorials credited under the image; dashed outlines are illustrations, not screenshots. Looking up a size or preparing an export never sends anything to DataFrenzy.
